Eating fish is healthy for the body and learning how to cook fish will give you more food options so you won’t have to feel sick about the food restrictions that you have to go through just to get yourself in good shape. Cooking Chilean sea bass recipes is one of my favorite past time activities and this is one of those recipes that I usually cook. However, this recipe can be cooked with other types of sea bass as well.
This is definitely one of those classic dishes. This is the whole sea bass recipe that is baked in the oven together with fennel and garlic. If you want you can even flame it in pastis just before you serve it. You can use sea bass fillets to make cooking easier for you. However, baking the whole fish is considered to be authentic and unique.
If you want to start cooking this recipe then you should first collect the following ingredients:
-One piece of 500g sea bass.
-One tablespoon of olive oil.
-A large bulb of fresh fennel
-a large onion
-one clove of garlic.
-30 mL of pastis
-salt
-ground black pepper
-lemon slices(Optional)
Once you have gathered all the ingredients needed for this sea base recipe, you can start cooking by first preheating the oven up to 220° C. See to it that the fish has been scaled. You can leave the head or you can remove it. Wipe the olive oil inside and out of the fish. Mix it together with salt and the ground black pepper. Peel the onion and sliced it finely. Then peel and crushed the garlic. Get rid of any leaves that are discolored from the fennel and slice it finely.
Heat the olive oil in a large baking dish over medium heat. Juice out the onion, garlic and fennel for about two to three minutes. After that, turn off the heat and remove half of all the vegetables. Put the sea bass on top of the garlic, onion and fennel that are remaining in the pan. Cover the fish together with the rest of the vegetables. Mix the pastis in it. Cover it lightly with an oiled foil and then place everything in the preheated oven. Bake it for around 15 minutes. After baking, take out the pan from the open and remove the foil. Put it back in the oven and baked further for 10 minutes.
Before serving the sea bass, be sure that the fish is cooked by checking if the flesh flakes easily from the bone when you pierce it with a fork. Serve the sea bass on large plate with vegetables and juices poured over the fish. If you want, you can decorate it with lemon slices. You could also add some extra pastis just before you serve it on the table. This can also help you improve the taste of the fish.
